Android has been around for 10 years now and there have at least 10 new Android versions that have been announced by Google every year. Talking about the latest versions of Android, Google launched the latest Android version of 2017 which has been named as Android 8.0 Oreo. Talking about the release and naming of Android 8.0 Oreo, we have known that the previous version of Android was Android 7.0 Nougat and later, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat got released. Therefore, the next version of Android has been numbered as 8.0/8.1 Oreo. Also, it is known that the next version of Android will be named starting with letter O so the name Oreo came into existence. Therefore, the next version of Android will be called as Android 9.0 and the name of the next Android version will start with the alphabet P. However, we are currently having Android 8.0/8.1 Oreo as the latest version of Android which was released last year by Google. This version comes with some finely-tuned improvements as well as new features from Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Talking about the latest features in Android Oreo, there is now an addition of Picture-in- Picture Mode along with redesigned notification center and settings interface. Apart from the release of Android 8.1 Oreo by Google recently, we have known that LineageOS 15.1 has also been officially released which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Talking about LineageOS 15.1, the developers behind the popular Custom ROM have skipped Android 8.0 Oreo in favor of the latest version of Android. Now, we have known that LineageOS 14.1 was released based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and it is the only custom ROM available which is very close to stock android with some gestures and features that are not available on the pure version of Android. Also, it is worth mentioning that the LineageOS 15.1 Official builds are limited to few devices which include all of the OnePlus devices, Nexus devices as well as some other devices.
